Born in 1919, the team’s first uniforms were donated by a local meat packing plant that requested the company name be put on the jersey. From Indian Packing Company was purchased by Acme Packing, The Acme Packers became the Packers under the newly formed American Professional Football Association (APFA). The team struggled with financial problems to the point of having to forfeit an entire season. In 1923 the Green Bay Football Corporation, the Green Bay Packers, was formed. Lambeau Field is the longtime home of the Green Bay Packers; first opening in 1957, it has been home to some of the most memorable games and athletes in NFL history.
